Bring Out Your Best!

Japrise measures your ability to speak Japanese effectively in work settings. The 24 questions/tasks in 5 big sections resemble real-life situations you might encounter both in and outside of a workplace. You will hear an automated voice, after which you need to answer the question.

✓Speak as much as possible.

Providing no response will result in a score of zero. It is not necessary to use advanced vocabulary. Instead, utilize the words you know, make full use of the allotted response time, and express yourself as thoroughly as possible.

Basic Response: I watch movies.
Enhanced Response: I watch movies, especially action movies at the cinema. I prefer the cinema
because I enjoy the big screen experience.

✓Key points to enhance your score

1.) Listen attentively to the questions and provide logical responses, including reasons,
     assumptions, and examples where appropriate.

2.) Incorporate a variety of vocabulary and try to ensure grammatical accuracy.
3.) Speak clearly and audibly, paying attention to pronunciation, intonation, and rhythm.


While the test utilizes recorded prompts,
please approach your responses as if engaging in a real conversation.


Important Instructions for Test-Takers

  1. The audio prompts will be played only once.
  2. Each question has a fixed response time. When the allocated time expires, the system will automatically advance to the next question.
  3. It is not possible to return to previous questions once they have been completed.
  4. Please ensure you take the test in a stable communication environment and speak clearly when providing your responses. Recordings that are inaudible will not be graded.
  5. Conduct the “Environment Check Test” prior to the test to confirm that there are no technical issues.
  6. In the event of a communication disruption during the test, it will be necessary to register for the test again. However, if the disruption is due to circumstances beyond the test taker's control, you may resume the test from the point where it was interrupted.

Part 5: Roleplay

In this section, you will simulate an interaction within a given situation. First, you will be provided with an explanation of the situation’s background and key points. Please read and listen to this explanation carefully. Next, you will have a brief preparation period. After this, a series of audio prompts will play, and you are required to respond immediately to each prompt. As this is a business scenario, some aspects may be unfamiliar. If necessary, use your imagination to respond appropriately to the questions.

Notification of Results
Test results will be available for viewing on the website within approximately 10 business days. You will be notified by email once the results are accessible.

Test Results
The test results will be displayed in 11 levels based on the CEFR (PreA1 / A1 / A1+ / A2 / A2+ / B1 / B1+ / B2 / B2+ / C1 / C2). Additionally, levels in seven categories—"Range of Expression," "Accuracy," "Fluency," "Interaction," "Coherence," and "Phonology"—will be shown in 7 levels (PreA1 / A1 / A2 / B1 / B2 / C1 / C2), along with personalized learning advice.

What environment is required to take the exam?

Please use one of the following browsers: Google Chrome / Mozilla Firefox / Microsoft Edge / Safari. The latest version of each browser is recommended. It is recommended that you use headphones with a microphone, earphones, or a headset. A camera is not required.

What are the communication charges and required connection speeds for a test?
A
The data volume required is about 60-100 MB, depending on the length of the responses. The recommended line speed is *10 Mbps or higher. *This speed assumes there is a stable connection.

May I take notes during the test?

You may take notes.
However, please note that copying, photographing, recording, or screen capturing of test questions are strictly prohibited.

How will I be scored?
A
Evaluators who have passed a rigorous selection and training process will score the test objectively, using evaluation methods designed based on the latest linguistic research.

Is there anything I should be careful about related to my answers?
A
Correct scoring may not be possible in the following cases:
Silent answers, answers in languages other than Japanese, answers unrelated to the question, and other answers that are not in line with the purpose of this test.

Why does the test date or time differ from the time I took the test?
A
The test results are displayed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). Japan time is normally 9 hours ahead of UTC.
